Inspiring Service and Globalizing Wisdom
Picture
SKY stands for Sudarshan Kriya® Yoga, a part of the ancient science of practices for maintaining ideal health and expanding awareness. The SKY Meditation Program was designed by global humanitarian and ambassador of peace, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. He has rekindled the traditions of yoga and meditation and has offered them in a form that works in the 21st century. By reviving ancient wisdom, Sri Sri has created new techniques for personal and social transformation. These include Sudarshan Kriya® which has helped millions of people to find relief from stress and discover inner reservoirs of energy and peace in daily life. In only three decades, his programs and initiatives have touched the lives of over 370 million people in 152 countries. SKY is taught through the nonprofit International Association for Human Values.

The International Association for Human Values (IAHV) is a 501(c)3 educational and humanitarian organization that is committed to developing and promoting programs of personal development that support the expression of human values in everyday life.

These include such values as a sense of belonging to a common humanity; respect for all people, cultures and traditions; respect for the natural environment; an attitude of nonviolence; and an ethic of social service. IAHV upholds the conviction that the integration of human values into all aspects of life will ultimately lead to a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world.

SKY in the words of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar

“Sudarshan Kriya (SKY) is not just another breathing technique. The breath is involved in the practice but it is not all that it is. It goes beyond to your mind, to your emotions, to your very Being; and it cleanses the whole system of stress and impressions.

“There are many pranayama techniques, so called breathing techniques, that energize you and bring some calming when you inhale a certain way, and exhale, and maybe hold the breath, but this has nothing to do with Sudarshan Kriya. Once you experience it, you'll be very clear. Once you do it the first time you will notice it brings the rhythm of Being in the system. It flows by itself, there is no effort in the technique.”
